The top ten teams will be given an aggregate time on 3 runs to determine a winner. Two Man Sorting As organizers of Two Man Sorting events across Alberta, it has become apparent to us that there is a need for sorters to be independently rated. The 80-80 Super Series has joined forces with Jody Elliot, Kurt and Jen Robson, The Bull Pen and Ivan Potts to create an effective numbering system for Sorters in Western Canada. While Team Penning and Sorting share many similarities, there are aspects of each sport that vary. As a result the numbers assigned by the Canadian Team Cattle Penning Association, may not be an accurate reflection of the sorters’ abilities. A separate, unbiased sorting number is therefore necessary. All sorters will be rated by a group of their peers. As organizers, we are simply facilitators of the process, and will only be responsible for the tabulation, and posting of sorters’ ratings. Approximately 15 of the individuals asked from across Alberta and British Columbia have agreed to be part of a rating committee that will rate sorters across Western Canada. We welcome any others who are willing to volunteer their time to numbering sorters. If you are interested please contact the 80-80. Sorters will be assigned a number in early January, with a reassessment in early June. Because we feel it is important that the ratings of sorters be based on peer assessment, any five sorters, or two committee members will be able to request that a sorters’ number is put up for review. If such a request is made, the sorter will be flagged, and the number of the sorter will be re-evaluated by the rating committee (which can only be changed in January or June). Ratings will be posted on the 80-80 website. Each member of the rating committee is only responsible for rating sorters that they are familiar with and have watched play the sport. If they feel that they are unable to accurately rate an individual, they will skip rating that particular individual. The individual sorters’ rating will be calculated by adding the total of all the ratings given by the rating committee members for that individual and then averaged and rounded. ![]()
